Philippe Chow is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. I seriously dream about their chicken satay and crispy beef more then one should, so when I got an invite to a special dinner at the Upper East side restaurant last week, I was all about that life. My friend Vanita (NYMag) and I went to the intimate dinner for media folks, hosted by Hall PR. Aside from us, there were girls from Refinery 29, People, and Live Nation.
Taking place in Philippe’s downstairs wine cellar (which is like a cozy, sexy man-cave that celebrities and ballers book for private dinners), Chef Philippe–he came out and greeted us– and his crew gave us a multi-course feast. Rappers love them some Philippe Chow and I’ve been to the same cellar before for dinners hosted by Atlantic Records and Epic Records but I’ll say this, no one throws down like food writers. They eat good. We stuffed ourselves silly on the over 20 dishes served, paired with wines and topped off with dessert. My favorites: The famous chicken satay in ooey gooey peanut cream sauce, lobster fried rice, green prawns and peking duck sliced at the table. Plus, the peanut butter mousse pie at the end was honestly to. die. for.
I may have to do two-a-days at the gym and wear leggings all week after this but it was so worth it. Thanks to Vanita, Steven and his team at Hall PR and the entire Philippe Chow staff for their hospitality.
